Villa La Pietra is a villa outside Florence, Italy. The villa and its 57 acre (23 ha) estate is now owned by New York University, after it was bequeathed by Sir Harold Acton. It is used by the university for academic undergraduate programs as well of outside conferences and tours.
The villa houses an eclectic collection of art from all around the world gathered and put together by the family who previously owned the property. A long cypress avenue connects the entrance of the estate to the house itself. The garden that surrounds the villa is designed in a renaissance italian fashion and contains a large collection of statues Arthur Acton collected, many by Orazio Marinali from Vicenza and Antonio Bonazza from Padua.
Villa La Pietra will be holding an Open Week from Monday September 30 to Saturday October 5 in which we will be offering free guided tour of the Collection and the Garden. If you are interested we still have spaces available. The tours in English are scheduled for:

About World Cycling Championships
Looking forward to welcome you in our hotel in Florence , we wish to inform you that in the period from Saturday 21st to Sunday, September 29th including in Florence and Tuscany will be held in the WORLD CYCLING ROAD .
An event of immense potential and importance for our city .
We would like to suggest to all our customers who will be staying with us during this period, to reach Florence by train , thus avoiding the inconvenience caused by the reorganization of traffic imposed by the event because the path of the races will be , in part, made all inside of the historical center of the city where our hotel is located.
If , however, You decide to come by car we suggest several precautions in order to avoid discomfort:
- First of all, check the website www.mondialiciclismo2013.comune.fi.it where you can see all the streets of Florence on which will pass the World Cycling Championships ,the suggested ways for getting around our town and other public service informations.
- Predict the arrival in town possibly after 19:00 (7:00 pm) and departure before 7:30 am
- If the estimated time of arrival and departure could not coincide with the above suggestions think about parking your car for the occasion outside the historical center , and use , then the Florentine Taxi (055 4390 or 055 4242 ) or the Tramway from Scandicci (www. gestramvia.it ).
