It is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. It is based on La dame aux Camélias, a play adapted from the novel by the son of Alexandre Dumas. It’s considered the most romantic and expressive opera by Verdi and it belongs to the people’s trilogy such as the “Rigoletto” and “Il Trovatore”. The first representation went on the theatre La Fenice in Venezia, the 6th march 1863 but it was a failure because it wasn’t match up the expectation; the following year with better actors, it was a great success. La Ttraviata is the third and the last play of people’s trilogy, and there is the principle characteristic wich prevail in all the trilogy that the main character dominate all the other protagonists.
