All ready to taste the new flavors of summer 2011?
Starts May 25 in Florence, the second edition of the Florence Ice Cream Festival. The event, which will last until May 29 to ensure a full five days of events and tastings, shows a lot of news.
The Florence Ice Cream Festival arrives in Oltrarno, to engage even more citizens and tourists. The Craft Village will in fact set up in Piazza Pitti. Laboratories at sight, where the ice-cream makers will prepare their tastes and will take turns to produce the goodies, and to stand for tasting will be hosted one of the most beautiful and famous buildings of the city, the residence of the Medici, who it opens on Boboli Gardens. The ice cream makers also will come from all over Italy to participate in the Festival and will be more numerous than last year.
The industrial village is confirmed in the precious setting of Piazza della Repubblica, in the heart of the city, midway between Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Pitti reached with a walk on the Ponte Vecchio. Will host the delights Sammontana, with the chance to discover the secrets of the only true Italian ice cream industry, this year committed “in his own way” in the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
Another novelty will be the long time: the stands will be open daily from 12 to 24, because the visitors have more time to enjoy the Festival in all its forms.
The program includes workshops for children and workshops for adults, musical and many happy hours in ice cream.
A special area will be dedicated to training for excellence in ice cream, featuring the Carpigiani University, the world’s most prestigious School of ice-cream maker that will organize practice tests to give everyone the opportunity to learn the art of ice cream, creating your own taste ” !
Finally, for the 150 anniversary of the unification of Italy, attention will be devoted to ice cream as a product 100% Italian-based raw materials and specialties of the peninsula and built using technology and creativity, equipment, recipes and experience exclusively made in Italy.
